| "So desirable that dealerships didn't even bother stocking them." But I think the OP is asking about their current level of desirability, not when they were sold new at the dealership 20 years ago. Some cars go up in value specifically because they were not successful being sold new, and therefore, there are less of them. "The whole 'best handling' 'most stiff' nonsense has never been measured, never been proven, it is simply an assumption..." True, but that assumes the only reason a slicktop might be more desirable is because it performs better. "...and the reality is if you aren't using the chassis for hardcore professional grade competition, then you will never realize the difference." Unless you look at the roof. Then you would immediately realize an aesthetic difference. "Now if you want to impress kids at sonic with your 'rare' slicktop, be my guest, because they are certainly rare....but then again, so are Altima and Sentra XE models with manual windows and locks." Or, you might want to purchase a slicktop because you prefer them, not because kids at sonic do. "They were supposed to be a cheapo base model but they were still too expensive to be worth anybody's money who had any sense. Buy an under-equipped 300ZX for roughly the same coin as a well or top equipped 240SX. Pretty easy decision." And as a result of that history, there are now less of them available compared to other models. Perhaps the current demand is the exact same as a regular N/A t-top 2+0, but since there is less supply of slicktops, they sell for a higher price. In the end, I agree with you - slickops are stupid. Don't buy one. Don't be interested in them. They're lame and anyone who wants one is an idiot. Please, drive the price down before I purchase one.
